Start with the traffic plan

Map existing routes for forklifts and pedestrians before planning AMR routes. Crossing points are where risk concentrates.

Prefer separation over interaction

  • Dedicated lanes where space allows

  • Defined crossing points with clear priority rules

  • Physical separation at pick-up and drop-off stations

Safety scanners are not a traffic plan

AMR scanners slow and stop the vehicle; they do not prevent a forklift from hitting it. Safety depends on layout and rules as much as on sensors.

Plan for peaks and exceptions

Check that routes still work when a pallet is left in an aisle, a door is blocked or traffic doubles at shift change.
